Hi, I’m Anne Charlotte, and I live in a small town along the Hudson River. The two things I’m most proud of are being a mom to my incredible kid and my work as a registered nurse. If you asked me about my hobbies, I might say I do weird things—like making my own yogurt or baking sourdough bread. Someone recently pointed out that photography is my hobby. I hadn’t really considered that – I just take pictures! Lots of pictures. I gave it some thought and decided that I guess I am a bit of an amateur photographer. Very amateur!
I don’t know much about rules like the golden ratio, leading lines, or the rule of thirds. I don’t seek out the “perfect shot.” My approach is simple: I move through my day, and when something catches my eye or stirs something inside me, I stop. I notice it. And sometimes, I try to capture it.
There’s a word I recently learned that describes that exact feeling I get—frisson.
Frisson (n.): A sudden, pleasurable feeling of emotional awe or beauty, often experienced in response to music, art, or something moving in nature. Sometimes described as a chill or a wave of goosebumps.
That’s what I feel when I see something I want to photograph. I try my best to capture that fleeting moment—the spark of feeling—so I can save it and take it with me.
Thanks for visiting. I hope something in this gallery gives you a little frisson too.
