In my last post, I wrote about the visit Luke and I took to Assateague Island. Part of that road trip through Maryland and Virginia also included a few days in Williamsburg, VA. We spent time in Colonial Williamsburg, learning about and being immersed in the last years of the American colonies. We also went to Busch Gardens and rode terrifying rollercoasters (sorry—no pictures of those, and btw, Pantheon is no joke! If you’re curious, click here for a POV video).
These photos are from an early evening stroll among the pretty buildings and colonial architecture of Colonial Williamsburg. I think I could very happily live in that sweet little white cottage!

Since childhood, I’ve always had a soft spot for living history museums. Before I was a nurse, I worked for a non-profit that owns and operates a group of historic sites in the lower Hudson Valley. One of the two houses I worked at represented the late colonial–new nation period of history. I was one of the cooks—open-hearth cooking was my thing.
Here’s a photo from my time as a cook at Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton, NY.
